Sustainable Design
Gecko Architecture’s design philosophy incorporates an awareness of the environment and knowledge that the way we choose to live not only affects our well-being but also the preservation of the environment. The design combines sustainability and energy conservation with aesthetic, functional and financial priorities.

The central idea is to make the house as sustainable as possible, first by re-using 40 feet containers but also by including in the design flat vegetable roofs, photovoltaic panels, rain water capture. |
Gecko Architecture is participating to the ¨Bienal de Arquitectura 2012¨for sustainable design presenting the house called ¨Hacienda Trinidad¨built above Ostional
Sitting on a plateau that is located on top of a mountain in the dry forest of majestic Nicoya Peninsula, is the project Hacienda Trinidad. A holiday residence whose name comes from the location, La Trinidad, cuajinicuil Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.
The main feature of this work is that it is composed of modules with repetitive movements. This concept allows a wide opening to the panoramic view of 180 degrees, where you can admire a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean observedfrom south to Punta Punta Scripts north India, but is also allows for a maximum use of the topography, a fluid cross ventilation, and an optimal use of natural lighting.
As a vacation home, all spaces were designed in a very cozy and practical at the same time, making this fourr bedoom work independently.
The house has a large common area and terraces that connects the different spaces and that can be enjoyed and accessed from any room. From the pool with infinity edge, it is possible to enjoy the magnificent view of the architectural massing and varied facades that convey a lot of movement.
The architectural design is based on a fusion of contemporary architectural style with some characteristics of the rustic architecture. At all times the project main objectivedriving the respect and good environmental management while taking into account the ecological aspects.
